Spring, Creativity and Mortality.....

Well it's that time of year. The time only Canadians truly understand..."Cabin Fever Blues"!! Yes we've had enough of Winter and spring is around the corner but not quite close enough. Let's all head somewhere hot where there's a beach and some beer...just sayin'!!?

I've been busy with writing again. Trying to understand what this next cd will be about (fall 2012) ? I'm starting to get excited. I like it when I'm in creative mode :). I've got a busy spring planned with shows..check out  this site for dates. I'm looking forward to touring with my pals Diane Chase and Willy Mack.

The kids are great and Cooper's still a pain..a puppy..what was I thinkin'!?

I've got a new single out "Howl At The Moon" and it's had a good response at radio. I had one response that got me thinking. "It sounds like Jamie Warren and I'm not sure if that's good or bad". I could have been offended but instead I started thinking. Now it could be that I turn 50 on April 8th and my fragile mortality tapped me on the shoulder... and maybe the word "relevant" was no longer mine? Everyone loses their job at some point in your life..Sometimes you're sweetly retired and sometimes your brutally fired, either way you end up in the same place.. without a job. I believe the new success that follows is connected with the charm and grace in which you leave this old place and re-invent and navigate to the new one. First of all, you are relevant as long as you choose to be. I am really excited about my future. I have great stories to sing to and tell to my demographic.. the baby boomers ( 46 -65). The same demo that country music radio is starting to ignore. I guess they've lost their jobs also. I will continue to write and create cds and play shows accross this Country. I will because I have something to say and I say it well. I just may not say it in the same way that everyone else does. I hope we never lose our appreciation for authenticity.

I want to state I'm not whining or complaining about my life. I have a great one with a great job. I'm just fine. This is a business/industry I'm in, not a day-camp of fun. I will continue to release music to radio and hope they play it. I have many good friends that program country Radio in Canada and they've been very kind to me over the years. I thank them and look forward to a beer or two together in Hamilton this fall. We have a great new batch of Canadian Country Artists..let's embrace them. They too will lose their job some day as will those that program the music. My wish is that they move forward and away with the same charm and grace as I plan to..50 here I come :)

take care..Jamie
